Hello from Table 52 Writers

We’re a group of passionate storytellers who met on a writing course and kept coming together to share our work and inspire each other. Together, we’ve published three books of short stories — a rich collection of tales that are diverse in both content and perspective.

Table 52 Extended...A Third Collection of Short Stories

Draft description: to be checked and signed off by Table 52.

An expansive literary journey across the full spectrum of human experience, from biting humour and eccentric heroism to profound introspection and surreal meditations on life and death.

In “Bob Save The King!” an unlikely hero’s spontaneous act of bravery during a royal procession turns an ordinary day into an unforgettable spectacle, as his determination to protect the monarchy’s dignity collides with the absurdities of modern security.

“A Non-Traditional Requiem for My Death” is narrated by a spectral observer at his own funeral, looking back on a life shaped by corporate ambition and unfulfilled dreams. “Summer School 1968” follows a teacher in Poland during a politically charged summer, where classroom life meets student demonstrations and quiet everyday resistance.

From the offbeat and quirky to the existential and fantastical, these stories find the extraordinary hiding in the mundane, and invite you to pause, reflect and perhaps see the world a little differently.

The short stories from Table 52 Writers cover an eclectic mix of themes dealing with a wide range of human experience.

From the tragic and moving to the uplifting and humorous, each story sprang from the vivid imagination of the storyteller.

The result is a diverse and thought-provoking collection, bringing to life an innocent child, a lost widower and his dog, an outrageous romantic, an ambitious film-maker, a perfect family, a disillusioned wife, a grieving father, a Turkish chorister, and a village gossip.

After coming together as a group on a writing course, the authors continued to meet at a local café, to share and discuss their writing, and to support each other – they always sat at table 52. As well as being an enjoyable read, this book aims to inspire others to take the plunge and start their writing journey.
